Arrange sliced potatoes in a buttered casserole baking dish. Sprinkle with flour, salt and onions and mix lightly. Stir in milk and dot with butter. Cook, covered, at 350 degrees for 45 - 50 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and allow to stand, covered, 5 minutes. Garnish with paprika or parsley and grated cheddar cheese.
Crockpot Scalloped Potatoes: get dinner started early in the day!
Make sauce for scalloped potato recipe: Melt butter/margarine. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk all at once. Cook, stirring, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in Velveeta/processed cheese until melted. Remove from heat.
Process: Place half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish/casserole. Cover with half of the sauce. Repeat layers. Sprinkle top with cheddar cheese.
Bake, covered, in a 350F degree oven for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 minutes more or until potatoes are tender. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve.
Peel and thinly slice potatoes. Dice ham.
Combine cream of chicken soup and milk, stir until smooth. Stir in onion, salt, pepper, and shredded cheese.
Layer potatoes, ham, and sauce in a baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove cover and continue to bake 30 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender and top is browned.
Allow potatoes to stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
* In this recipe, and all scalloped potato recipes, experiment with a variety of your favorite cheeses such as Havarti, mozzarella, Swiss, Cheddar, etc. The more strongly-flavored cheeses will require less to create a tasty, cheesy dish.
Place a layer of sliced potatoes in a buttered/oiled casserole dish. Add a layer of vegetables and ham. Repeat with another layer. Combine melter butter and milk and pour over all.
Bake at 350F for 30 - 45 minutes. Top with shredded cheese and return to oven just until cheese is melted and slightly browned.
One of the easiest of all scalloped potatoes recipes:
6 Large potatoes, sliced
1 Small onion, diced
8 slices bacon, uncooked diced
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
1 can cream of chicken soup
Layer 1/2 each of the potatoes, onion, bacon, and cheddar cheese in the bottom of your Crock-Pot. Repeat layers of each ingredient. Pour in the cream of chicken soup. Cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
