Revere Ware Cookware

Revere Ware Cookware Revere Ware cookware has been a household name for generations for its durability and versatility and many of the Revere Ware Cookware vintage cookware pieces can be restored and refurbished with genuine Revere Ware replacement parts.

History of Revere Ware

In the early 1900s the Revere Copper & Brass merged with a number of smaller metal companies including the Taunton New Bedford Copper Company which in 1801 had purchased Paul Revere and Son's assets. Combined with the tea kettle producing Rome Manufacturing Company the Revere Copper & Brass Company who up until 1928 provided only industrial fittings, materials and pipe was ready to turn their hand at house wares manufacturing.

Early cookware was made of cast iron which was heavy and required some maintenance to keep it from rusting and food from sticking. The Revere Copper & Brass company was looking for a new type of cookware that would reduce the weight of cookware and yet provide the same even heating, with low-pitting consistent cooking surfaces. Initially the company created copper cookware with chrome plated linings; however, copper heats quickly and chrome is affected by acidic type foods including tomatoes. Electroplating copper to the bottom of stainless steel cookware led to the development of Revere Ware cookware. Not only did this new type of cookware heat quickly and evenly, they were also scratch and stain resistant which allowed for easy cleanup.

Revere Ware Survives

The signature curved knob on Revere Ware cookware was fashioned after a silversmith's hammer and allows at a glance identification of these long lasting cookware pieces. After a debut at the Chicago 1939 World's Fair, the Revere Ware division of Revere Copper & Brass became the best selling and profitable division of the company. The choice to diversify from industrial products allowed the company to survive into the 1980s and merge with other household name kitchen products to provide a wider variety of household cook and bake ware that will withstand the test of time.

Revere Ware Components

Available as individual pieces, sets and groups in aluminum, copper bottomed stainless steel and stainless steel only with or without non-stick linings, Revere Ware cookware are equipped with phenolic handles. This is a synthetic resin than can withstand oven temperatures up to 350° Fahrenheit and remain cool when in used on a stove's burner.

Revere Ware Warranty

Revere Ware can withstand the heat from both natural and propane gas stoves and electric ranges, plus many Revere Ware sets and pieces are covered by a limited warranty.

Restoring Revere Ware

Antique pieces can be restored to original condition since many of the handles, knobs and replacement parts are still available and using toothpaste, soap, water and copper polish exteriors can also be restored.

Cleaning Revere Ware

Revere Ware can be easily cleaned using soap and water however non-stick lined pieces may require the use of a gentle sponge or rag. Should a copper bottomed pot or pan from Revere Ware become stained or darkened it can easily be restored by using a polyester scouring pad and some toothpaste. Apply a small amount of toothpaste directly onto the pot and using the pad gently rub the area and rinse with water. Occasionally a second application is necessary to help lighten discolored areas, and the use of a quality copper polish will help prevent future discolorations and stains. Just be sure to follow the copper cleaner’s directions to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Investing in Revere Ware cookware assures that the pots, pans and bake-ware will stand up under use for decades and will remain looking as good as they did when they were new. Sauce pans, one to three-quart size with and without non-stick lining, eight-quart stockpots with lids and a tea kettle that can hold up to three and a half quarts of water choosing just one may be difficult.

Revere Ware cooking sets are available in many sizes containing different cookware pieces. Sets are available with seven, eight, nine and ten pieces in traditional copper bottomed and stainless steel only, plus Revere Ware offers a set of lidded, stainless steel mixing bowls that can also be purchased as a set. If you make lots of potato soup, consider a Revere Ware stockpot!

Whether you’re looking to replace your existing cookware, purchasing your first set or filling in pieces of a set handed down from a family member, Revere Ware cookware is reliable, easily cared for, endorsed by many renowned chefs and is an investment that will provide decades of use.
