Potato Conference Comes to the Tri-Cities

It's always been in Moses Lake but the potato industry is growing so rapidly it's simply too big now. This is a score for the Tri-Cities. Nationwide the convention businesses is down because of the economy. This 3-day event should draw 2,000 people and bring $2 million to town. Potatos are Washington's second largest crop following apples. The annual harvest averages about $500 million. Nearly all of these potatoes are sent to processor and turned into french fries and other snacks.
