How to Roast Potatoes

Several Ways to Make Your
Favorite Roasted Potato Recipes

If you need some tips about how to roast potatoes, we have them. Roasted potatoes are a favorite side dish with pot roast, pork roast and many other meals.

Oven roasted potatoes may be the most common way to roast potatoes however potatoes can be roasted on the grill and even in the crockpot.

How to Roast Potatoes Oven Roasted Potatoes:

Preheat your oven to 400 F.

Cut the potatoes into uniform sized chunks so they will roast evenly.

Toss the potato chunks with olive oil until the pieces are fully coated.

Put several tablesoons of olive oil in a shallow roasting pan. Add the oiled potato pieces and season them with salt, garlic powder or paprika as you choose. Other flavoring such as dry Ranch dressing mix add unique flavor as well.

Place the roasting pan in the preheated oven and roast the potatoes for 30 minutes; turn the potato pieces over and roast for another 20 to 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and slightly browned.

Potatoes roasted in their skins have a crispy texture you may like. If you want to know how to roast potatoes with their skins on here are some tips:

  • Use new potatoes or other small potatoes.
  • Wash the potatoes well before roasting.
  • Pat the potatoes dry and spray them with olive oil cooking spray.
  • Sprinkle the potatoes with seasonings of your choice.
  • Place the oiled new potatoes in a roasting pan and roast in your oven at 375 degrees F. until tender in the center and the skins are browned.

How to Roast Potates on the Grill

Foil-Wrapped Roasted Potatoes

Roasted potatoes and other roasted vegetables make great combinations for grilling. If you want to just roast potatoes on the grill there a couple of easy ways to do so.

Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks, wedges or slices as you would for oven roasted potatoes. Spray the cut potatoes with olive oil cooking spray and sprinkle them with seasonings.

Add onions, garlic, green or red sweet peppers or other vegetables to the potatoes if you choose.

Wrap in foil: Create individual foil "packets" for each serving. The foil will help flavors blend and will keep the roasted potatoes moist.
