Baked Sweet Potato Fries Recipe

Baked Sweet Potato Fries Recipe Create a tasty baked sweet potato fries recipe as a great alternative to less healthy french fries. Add more sweet potato recipes to your family meals...they are low cost and high in taste and nutrition.

While there can be many variations on ingredients for seasoning a basic baked sweet potato fries recipe, the directions will remain pretty much the same.

Cut your sweet potatoes into "french fry type" segments; coat them with the seasonings of your choice, oven bake the sweet potato fries until they are crispy on the outside, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Seasoned Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients:
  • large sweet potatoes, cut into thick slices. Use a french fry cutter if you have one.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • dash cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt or seasoned salt

Directions:

Set your oven temperature at 400 degrees to pre-heat while you are doing the rest of the preparation.

Place the cut sweet potatoes in a large bowl and combine the sweet potatoes with all of the seasoning ingredients. Stir gently until the sweet potatoes are well coated.

When the sweet potatoes are ready, place them in a single layer on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake your sweet potato fries until slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. This should take about 30 minutes.

Enjoy your sweet potato fries as they are or serve with your choice of dipping sauce or a squeeze of lemon.

Seasoning can be anything that you like including garlic, rosemary, paprika, onion powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, or seasoning mixtures like fajita seasoning.

Make your baked sweet potato fries recipe into a "sweet treat" by omitting the other flavorings and sprinkling them with a bit of brown sugar and some cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom.

While catsup may be the first thing that comes to mind for dipping your sweet potato fries, you can be as creative as you choose with dipping sauces as well. My grandkids love ranch dressing for dipping most anything. I like a honey-spice dip for mine:

Honey Spice Dip for Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup reduced fat sour cream
  • 1/2 cup plain lowfat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

Combine the sour cream, yogurt, honey and cinnamon in a small bowl. Serve with your baked sweet potatoes. Enjoy!
