If you are looking for the best potato recipes for Thanksgiving, we have them! Thanksgiving is just a week away and the Best Potato Recipes website has lots of visitors who are looking for potato recipes for Thanksgiving dinner. To make the search easier, I have linked some of our favorite recipes for Thanksgiving right from the home page. Just look in the upper right hand corner of the page.

To get you started, here is one of our favorite Thanksgiving potato recipes:

Thanksgiving Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 6 - 8 large Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) butter (*Note: this recipe does not call for milk; the butter provides the creaminess you want!)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt to the water once it reaches a boil.

While the potatoes cook, place the butter in a small pot over medium-low heat to melt. Chop and mash the garlic into a paste. This helps to really get that buttery/garlicky taste into every bite of the potatoes.

Add the mashed garlic to the melted butter. Drain the cooked potatoes and mash them together with the garlic butter. Add your choice of fresh herbs or parsley to garnish.

Serves 6

We will have 22 people, family and friends, at our Thanksgiving table this year. I love the large gathering and opportunity to share food and give thanks together. However, before next Thursday arrives, I have lots of grocery shopping to do! Here’s one of my best tips: I signed up at grocery savings at CoolSavings.com for grocery coupons, discount codes and money saving tips! You can print the coupons you want right from your computer.

I have many Thanksgiving Day resources on one of my other websites. The page titled Thanksgiving Traditions has links to pages about the history of Thanksgiving, pages of Thanksgiving recipes, and even pages of Thanksgiving prayers, quotes, poems and jokes.

Whatever your Thanksgiving Day tradition I hope it is a day of good food and warm connection with those you love. If you don’t have an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner, consider inviting someone to share the day with you.

For each new morning with its light,
Father, we thank thee,
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father, we thank thee,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything thy goodness sends,
Father, in heaven, we thank thee.
